Buying A New Computer?  CBS will run well on any new computer however there are a few items to consider:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

How will you submit your claims to MCIB?

Most new computers come with an internal modem.  Sadly, internal modems do not work with MCIB's PC-Anywhere software.  You have two options:

Make sure to purchase a standard external serial modem (NOT USB).  You can use the US Robotics External v.92 56K Faxmodem - Staples part number 496682  $169.95  and a cable  Belkin Modem Cabel  Staples part number 40979.  Contact Sask Health at 787-8561 for assistance setting up your new modem.

In order to submit claims by internet you will have your best luck with an "always on" internet connection such as Sask Tel's High Speed or High Speed Lite.  You can also use a Cable Modem from Shaw or Access Communications.

In addition you will need access to the MCIB web site.  Call Sask Health at 787-8561 to request the necessary forms - please allow up to 2 weeks for approval.

How Will You Make Your Backup?

New computers often do not come with a floppy drive.  You will probably want to switch to CD Rom backup.  CBS Navicert has built in CD Writer support.  CD Writer support is an optional add-on for CBS Classic Just Click Here for more information.

If you wish to make backup on diskettes you can purchase an external diskette drive.  Try staples part number 521388.

Note:  If your backup set contains more than 3 or 4 diskettes it probably won't restore properly - time to switch to CD Backup.

How Will You Load Your Updates?

If your new computer does not have a floppy drive, you have two choices for loading your CBS updates:
